What are the advantages of a Money Market Account?

A Money Market Share Account can provide a higher rate of return than a traditional savings account, thanks to competitive rates and dividends that compound daily. With dividends, referred to at some financial institutions as interest, you earn money on your account at a rate set by our Board of Directors, which is subject to change daily.

Dividends are compounded daily and paid into the account monthly. Also, you can feel good knowing your funds are NCUA insured and can be accessed using any CashPoints® ATM.

To earn dividends on your Money Market Account, you must maintain a minimum daily balance of $250. Dividends will accrue every day that your balance is at or above $250.

There is a $2 service fee if your balance drops below $250 during any statement period.

You can also use this account as an Overdraft Transfer Service for your LGFCU Checking Account, when you enroll in this service.

To enroll in Overdraft Transfer Service, log into Member Connect, or call us at 888.732.8562. Funds will be transferred to your checking account in $50 increments from your Money Market account. The Overdraft Transfer Service also allows transfers in $50 increments from other share and deposit accounts, Open-End Signature Personal Loans, and in $500 increments from Home Equity Lines of Credit.

Money Market account funds may not be used as collateral for an LGFCU loan.
