LGFCU Board of Director members volunteer to serve three-year terms. Each year we announce the candidates that members can vote for at the Annual Meeting.

The Nominating Committee has nominated the following individuals for the LGFCU Board of Directors:

David Dear (Board Term 2024-2027)
Dear began his service with LGFCU in 2009 by serving on the Foothills Advisory Council. He was nominated and elected to serve on the Board of Directors in 2012, where he has served in various roles including Chair. Dear is retired from Cleveland County as its Manager, and was previously the county’s Finance Director. He has also served on the Board of Trustees of the N.C. Local Governmental Employees’ Retirement System.

Lin Jones, CCUB (Board term 2024-2027) 
Jones began his service to LGFCU on the Supervisory Committee, where he served as committee Chair. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 1996 and has served in all Board Officer positions. Jones holds the designation of Certified Public Accountant (CPA), is a member of the North Carolina Association of CPAs, and the American Institute of CPAs. Jones is the retired Finance Director of the Town of Garner.

Nomination guidelines

  • Nominations must be accompanied by a signed certificate from the nominee stating an agreement to be nominated and to serve if elected.
  • Nominations for vacancies on the Board of Directors may be made by petition signed by 1% of the members with a minimum of 300 and a maximum of 500. As of the September 30, 2023, Call Report, LGFCU has 405,939 members, so 500 member signatures are required.
  • Nominations by petition shall include a brief statement of qualifications and biographical data.
  • If there is only one nominee for each position to be filled, the election will not be conducted by ballot and there will be no nominations from the floor.
  • The closing date for receiving nominations by petition is February 11, 2024.

Voting

As part of the Annual Meeting, LGFCU members vote to fill expiring Board of Directors positions. The 2024 Annual Meeting is scheduled for Friday, March 22, at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham, North Carolina.
