Sherry Bear is the Chief Operations Officer for LGFCU and Civic Federal Credit Union. A financial professional who’s worked in the credit union industry for more than 35 years, Bear collaborates closely with the CEO to set and drive the organizational vision for operational strategy.
Prior to her current role, she was Senior Vice President of Operations for the Credit Unions and was the Vice President of Consumer Lending at LGFCU before that. Bear also was employed at the N.C. Division of Credit Unions and was the Vice President/Controller at Square 1 Bank. Earlier in her career she served as Vice President/Controller at Coastal Federal Credit Union.
Bear holds a bachelor's degree in the Science of Industrial Relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is also a Certified Public Accountant.
When not working, Bear enjoys reading and traveling with her husband.
