The IRS added several features so taxpayers can now manage their income tax account in a safe and easy way online.
More than just filing online
For the first time, you can log in and get the latest information available about your tax account thanks to several new tools. You’ll see the amount of taxes you owe, as well as any penalties and interest.
Secure, self-service features
Now when you visit IRS.gov you can:
- View up to 18 months of tax payment history.
- View payoff amounts and tax balances due for each tax year.
- Get online transcripts of various Form 1040-series.
- Give feedback on your experience.
- Make suggestions for site improvements.
“This new tool is part of the IRS’s commitment to improve and expand taxpayer services by providing additional online taxpayer options,” said IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. “The new ‘balance due’ feature, paired with the existing online payment options, will increase the availability of self-service interactions with the IRS. This will give taxpayers another way to take care of their tax obligations in a fast and secure manner.”
To keep your personal information secure, you’ll have to verify your identity and complete a registration process before using the new account management tool.
