Join LGFCU in October as we recognize National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) and find out how to keep your devices secure every day.

Throughout the month, we’ll share tips and tools in Aim, Personal Finance, and on social media to help you and your family enjoy your smart devices — everything from your cell phone to your refrigerator — safely and securely.

“We want members to keep their smart devices secure not just in October, but every month of the year,” said Terry Phelps, Senior Vice President, Managed Information Systems at LGFCU. “Every step we take to keep our devices secure will make ourselves, our families and our communities safer. So, take a minute to stop and think about what you allow to be viewed, posted and shared before you connect your devices to the internet.”

Every day, you use smart devices to make your life easier and more enjoyable. You perform routine activities like checking your account balance, shopping, social networking or downloading the latest apps — digital transactions that interact seamlessly across your mobile devices, your household appliances and more. But criminals like them too, since they store a lot of your personal information.

The growing amount of data, devices and connections brings a potentially new set of online security threats. As a result, securing your devices is a good first step in staying protected in the many ways you connect. Remember that data fees may apply if you’re not using Wi-Fi, so check with your service provider.
