Sign up for FAFSA Day on February 22

Free, personal help completing financial aid forms

January 16, 2014

Don't let the stress and confusion of financial aid paperwork keep you from getting help to pay for college. Register now for FAFSA Day on February 22.

Credit Union employees will be on hand from 9 a.m. to noon, February 22, at all Credit Union branches to offer free, one-to-one help filling out FAFSA forms and submitting them electronically.

Find a FAFSA Day site near you and register to attend!

If you've registered for FAFSA Day you'll need to bring with you:

  1. 2013 tax forms such as W-2s and asset documents, an estimate for the student and parent, or completed tax forms. Visit our Tax Preparation section to find out how a Credit Union tax preparer can complete and file your tax return for you.
  2. FAFSA PINs, one for student and one for parent, from the Department of Education. Visit www.pin.ed.gov to apply.
  3. FAFSA on the Web Worksheet (Helpful, but not required.)

Remember: The FAFSA must be filled out every year, so even if you filled it out last year a new one needs to be filled out to qualify for aid for the 2014-15 school year.

Looking for more ways to help pay for school? Apply for an LGFCU Scholarship! Every year LGFCU awards 120 scholarships of $1,000 each to graduating high school students and students attending colleges, universities and graduate schools. Visit Scholarships to see if you qualify and to download an application.

About the FAFSA

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is required from any student who wants to be considered for state and federal college financial aid such as grants, student loans and work-study. It must be filled out every year for students seeking aid.

FAFSA Day is a free service provided by College Foundation of North Carolina, the North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, and the State Employees' Credit Union.
