April 3, 2013
The Annual Meeting is scheduled for Friday, April 26, at 10:30 a.m. in the LGFCU Conference Center located at 323 West Jones St. in Raleigh.
This year, we have a lot to celebrate. Not only is this the 30th anniversary of LGFCU, it also marks the 25th anniversary of the Advisory Council! During the meeting, members will vote to fill available seats on the board of directors. Attendees will also hear reports on the state of the Credit Union from the president, officers and committees chairs. The following candidates have been nominated for three-year board terms:
Unlike traditional financial institutions, Credit Union board members are volunteers and do not receive compensation. Historically, volunteers have played a very significant role in credit unions. They truly represent the philosophical character of cooperatives that rely on members to help one another.
Advisory Council members are also an integral part of LGFCU's volunteer-driven initiative to not only educate people on the benefits of credit union membership, but to also give feedback to the board of directors regarding available or potentially available products and services, delivery of service, and member needs. For 25 years they have functioned as the Credit Union's eyes and ears throughout the state, serving as liaisons between credit union members and non-members, and LGFCU management.
LGFCU offers many opportunities for all members to participate. Whether you join your local Advisory Council, a committee, or vote on board of director positions, as a member, these are just a few of the many ways receiving your financial services from a credit union differs from a bank.
