The number of Local Government Federal Credit Union members using MemberConnect increases everyday. It's important to us that each member, new and old, understands that his or her online transactions are secure. Our MemberConnect system uses the best security devices and 128-bit encryption technologies to encode all of your data.

Encryption is simply an algorithm or formula which is based on a key. Standard international browsers use 40-bit encryption as a default which equates to 1,000,000,000,000 possible keys. The 128-bit or domestic grade encryption used by MemberConnect enables the use of 309,485,009,821,345,068,724,781,056 possible key combinations, making your transmissions well secured-a virtually impossible lock to pick! We require the use of a secure browser which scrambles information as it passes across the Internet called Secure Socket Layer (SSL). Next, LGFCU keeps your information secure and confidential when it passes through a "firewall" which is a computer specifically designed to keep out unauthorized users. The information is also scrambled again to ensure it can only be read by authorized representatives.

Your on-line session is secure if you see a closed lock on the bottom toolbar. An unsecured site will show an open lock on the bottom toolbar. You can also check the Internet page's security information to ensure that the certificate for the site you are visiting is authentic and valid.
