Official Rules

HOW TO ENTER: Swipestakes begins July 1, 2008 and ends December 31, 2008 (the “Swipestakes Period”). If you are a Local Government Federal Credit Union (LGFCU) member who uses a Visa debit card to make a purchase during the Swipestakes Period, your name will be automatically entered (one time for each qualifying transaction) for a chance to win.

ELIGIBILITY: Swipestakes open to individuals who are members of LGFCU who make purchases with a Visa debit card from their LGFCU checking account during the Swipestakes Period. Eligible persons must be legal residents of, and residing in, the state of North Carolina and be at least 18 years of age. Directors, officers, and employees of LGFCU and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each, as well as any persons involved in the design, administration or implementation of this Swipestakes, are not eligible to participate or to win. LGFCU, through its President, retains the sole discretion to determine any issue of eligibility, and the President’s decision will be final.

RANDOM DRAWING AND PRIZES: Six potential prize winners will be selected, one in each of the six months of the Swipestakes Period, by random drawing, from all entries received during that particular month, to win $1000. Two potential grand prize winners will be selected by a random drawing, from all eligible entries received over the entire Swipestakes period to win $25,000. Odds of winning will depend upon number of eligible entries received. Prizes will consist of two grand prizes of $25,000 each, and six prizes of $1000 each, to be awarded during the first week of August, September, October, November, and December 2008, and January 2009. The total potential value of all prizes is $56,000. Entrants need not be present at the time of drawing to be eligible to win. Winners will be notified within fifteen (15) business days of the drawing either by phone, e-mail or U.S. mail, based on contact information provided by the member to LGFCU. Winners will be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release within fifteen (15) business days following notification as a condition of receiving prize. Failure to return the Affidavit of Eligibility in accordance with these stipulations, or otherwise accept the prize, may result in forfeiture of the prize and an alternate winner may be selected via random drawing. Only purchase transactions will be considered valid entries; ATM withdrawals will not be considered as qualified entries.

Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be redeemed or substituted for another prize, and LGFCU shall have the right to determine method and form of prize delivery. LGFCU’s decisions concerning all matters related to the Swipestakes shall be final. Winners acknowledge that the prizes are taxable. Winners will receive an IRS 1099 tax form and may wish to seek advice from an independent tax advisor.

WINNERS LIST: For a notice identifying the winners, visit www.lgfcu.org after January 10, 2009 and before July 30, 2009. Winners’ names will also be posted in the LGFCU publication, aim, in the March 2009 edition.

GENERAL RULES: Entry in the Swipestakes is offered to eligible members, but void where prohibited or restricted by law. All applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. All materials submitted become the sole property of LGFCU and will not be returned. Return of any prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification, and an alternate winner may be selected. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission to LGFCU to use the winner’s name and likeness for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. LGFCU reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Swipestakes, for marketing or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.

By accepting a prize, winner agrees to hold harmless and to indemnify LGFCU and its officers, directors, agents, employees and assigns with regard to all claims, liabilities, and legal expenses related to any dispute that arises from a designated winner’s participation, use or alleged misuse of the prize or acceptance of the prize. LGFCU is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of this offer, administration of this promotion, or the announcement of the prize. LGFCU reserves the right to suspend or terminate the Swipestakes in the event the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Swipestakes is jeopardized. This promotion is governed by the laws of the state of North Carolina. This Swipestakes is void in all states except North Carolina. LGFCU is not responsible for payment of any of the tax consequences related to the awarding of any prize as part of the Swipestakes.
