Make the Switch
Don’t let confusion prevent you from switching to an LGFCU Checking Account! Switching to a new checking account can be broken down to a few simple steps. You can be certain all will go smoothly by following these suggestions:
- Open an LGFCU Checking Account by phoning the Call Center at 888.732.8562 or visiting a local branch.
- Reassign your Direct Deposit to this account. Direct Deposit forms are available from your payroll or human resources department. Be aware this rerouting could take one or two pay cycles and may require you to accept a live check; simply deposit it in the new account.
- Reconcile the old account to determine actual balance, taking into consideration any items that have not yet cleared or are scheduled to be deducted.
- List all preauthorized transactions regarding the old account, including drafts, transfers and direct deposits.
- Transfer these payments/deductions to the new account. Credit union representatives can help you with the transfer process should you wish.
- Follow up with each institution affected by the account change to determine when all items have cleared the old account and to verify preauthorized transactions are scheduled properly.
- When all outstanding items have cleared and all preauthorized transactions are switched, close the old account.
