LGFCU is committed to educating our members to be informed consumers; in addition we are committed to educating members and potential members about credit union uniqueness, philosophy and values.
Current Programs that Support Member Education and Advocacy:
Financial Counseling
Free financial profile and consultation from the LGFCU financial wellness staff; includes a financial check-up, a spending plan and a debt reduction plan when needed; BALANCE, with whom LGFCU works with to provide financial counseling services, serves members with low- to no-cost counseling and debt management programs
Financial Planning
Complimentary financial planning service for LGFCU members offering educational assistance that empowers them to make informed decisions about short- and long-term financial goals
Financial Workshops
LGFCU conducts workshops on personal finance topics for members at no charge; topics include: Debt Management, Buying a Home, Retirement Planning, College Education Planning and Planning for Long-Term Care

Share-based account designed to allow children 0-12 years of age an understanding of finance and an opportunity to begin saving

Online reference materials
Public and member resource for general information, calculators, applications and account management
In-branch reference materials
“Pick-up-and-go” materials on all Credit Union services and general interest subjects
Benefit/Organizational Fairs/Training
One-to-one presence at county/city unit-sponsored fairs to build awareness, explain the credit union difference, disseminate CU information, answer questions and encourage LGFCU membership; training services provided at LGFCU units throughout year
